Lake Shchuchye is located North of the city of Shchuchinsk. The area of the water mirror is 1860 hectares. the Maximum length is 7.2 km, width-3.7 km. Since 1956, the depth of the lake has decreased by almost 10 m. and now the maximum depth does not exceed 19 m. Shchuchye lake is fresh water, total mineralization of 289 – 291 mg/L. In the lake Shchuchye ichthyofauna is represented by native species: pike, roach, perch and tench, as well as species universes and acclimatized (whitefish, ripus, ryapushka). The lake is surrounded by hills covered with forest which gives the lake an indescribable beauty.
